Best summed up by a quote from actress Aisha Tyler, “Success is not the absence of failure; it's the persistence through failure.” For this photo series, it is created to invite and expand our perspective by investigating a deeper and more holistic understanding of success, while also redefining the image of failure. In modern day, we see “the good life” reflected on tabloids, newspapers and social media. The image of success is often the only part we ever see, but that is the destination. The story often left untold is the journey to the destination. And the process is filled with many moments of failure, trepidation and uncertainty.
The purpose of this project is to delve into the “successful” and understand each of their story, not only by knowing and seeing their times of accomplishments and greatness, but more importantly, also understanding a part of their untold story—the times of fears, setbacks, rejections, and adversities.
So if the multitude of failure breeds success, what are the often untold failures of the successful?
